Who Does What - the Committees Involved with the Weston Hospital Decision

Weston Area Health NHS Trust (WAHT) governs the hospital itself.

WAHT has established a Project Board to oversee the discussions comprising representatives from the Trust, local health commissioners, the TDA, North Somerset Council and other key stakeholders.

There is also a Stakeholder and Quality Assurance Group, which will advise the Project Board on the views of all local stakeholders including staff, patients, carers and the public. Kathy "Conflict of Interest" Headdon is Chair of this Group.

The North Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (and to a lesser extent the Somerset Commissioning Group) are the new GP-led authorities who plan healthcare and buy services from WAHT. Kathy ("conflict of interest") Headdon is the Chair of the NS CCG.

NHS Trust Development Authority (TDA) is the new organisation that oversees the future arrangements for those NHS Trusts (like WAHT) that are not currently Foundation Trusts. You can see our correspondence with the TDA here.

Finally, Healthwatch North Somerset, although not directly involved in the changes, is supposed to work with local people to get the best out of their local health and social care services and help shape improvements in the future. Their aim is to gather and represent the views of the public.
